How much does it cost to build an app?

• Small, focused app: can come in under $10k
• Full app for iPhone and Android: $10k to $25k
• Larger projects or ongoing work: $25k and up

These numbers are a guide, not a price list. What your app costs depends on what it has to do.

What moves the price?

• iPhone, Android or both. Most businesses need both, but sometimes one is enough to start
• How many screens the app has, and what each of them has to do
• Whether users log in and keep their own data
• Connections to systems you already have, like your store, your customer system or your accounting

What is included?

• A design built around the people who will use the app, which you click through on your own phone before it is built
• Publishing to the App Store and Google Play, handled with you
• Developer accounts in your name, so the app is yours
• Updates and fixes after launch, when real users start using it
• Your own login where you follow the work: status, updates and dates

How long does it take to build an app?

A focused first version can often be ready in one to three months. Larger apps are planned over three to six months. You see the timeline before any work starts.

How you pay

We never ask for money upfront. Once we have agreed on the scope and both signed off on it, you usually pay 30 to 50 percent to get started. The rest can be split into installments, paid in one go when the work is finished, or folded into an ongoing arrangement if we keep working together.

What does it cost after launch?

Apple and Google charge their own fees for the developer accounts, and since the accounts are in your name, you pay them directly. For the first weeks after launch we stay on and fix what comes up. If you want to keep building on the app, we agree on an ongoing arrangement.

Do you really need an app?

Sometimes a website does the same job. If that is you, we say so before you spend anything.
